Research Associate III, Cell Line Generation

Summary

We are seeking a highly capable laboratory-based Research Associate III with a technical background in cell line engineering. This scientist will be a part of the Antibody Discovery team, generating therapeutic antibodies for tumor-directed antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs). The primary responsibility will be designing and generating cell lines and associated assays for antibody characterization. The candidate should work well within a highly collaborative team environment, while being able to work independently to design, execute, troubleshoot, optimize, and interpret experiments. Specific position level will be commensurate with applicant’s experience.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Contribute intellectually and experimentally to the discovery and validation of potential new oncology drug candidates
  • Collaborate on the design of antibody campaigns and the selection strategy for lead biologics
  • Utilize molecular biology concepts to design constructs for use in cell line generation, including transfection, CRISPR/Cas9 tools, and lentiviral transduction
  • Design, execute, troubleshoot, optimize, and interpret experiments related to stable cell line generation
  • Evaluate target expression and antibody specificity by flow cytometry
  • Design and optimize cell-based assays for lead antibody characterization, which may include internalization, function modulation, or ligand blocking
  • Coordinate workflows with cross-functional teams, project leads, and CROs
  • Keep detailed and accurate laboratory records, communicate results in written and oral format, and present results at group meetings and cross-departmental meetings

Qualifications:

  • A./B.S. or M.A./M.S. in cellular biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, or relevant field
  • 3-5+ years of experience in an academic, biotech, or pharmaceutical research setting
  • Requires 1+ years of experience in vector design and cell line engineering
  • Preference for candidates with experience in multicolor flow cytometry, cell-based assay development, and high throughput applications
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while handing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong desire for continued learning
  • Ability to generate high quality documentation and communicate effectively to a variety of audiences through oral and written formats
  • Team player and solution-oriented, with strong analytical, interpersonal, organizational and time-management skills
