Description

Seattle Genetics is an emerging global multi-product biotechnology company that develops and commercializes innovative antibody-based therapies for the treatment of cancer. The company’s industry-leading antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) technology harnesses the targeting ability of antibodies to deliver cell-killing agents directly to cancer cells. Summary

The Associate Director and Corporate Counsel, will assist in building and managing a robust contract lifecycle management (CLM) system and provide legal support for the contracting needs of various operational departments, including research, corporate/G&A functions (including IT), commercial, process development and manufacturing.

Responsibilities:

  • Negotiates and drafts a wide variety of commercial contracts e.g., service agreements, consulting agreements, including those relating to those related to IT, manufacturing and supply chain.
  • Assists in building and managing a robust contract lifecycle management (CLM) system, including developing, implementing and maintaining processes and templates.
  • Mentors junior staff and colleagues on processes and legal issues/scenarios.
  • Provides legal interpretation of contracts and practical, business-orientated legal advice.
  • Adopts a risk management approach to contracting, identifying and communicating risk while providing actionable solutions for managing risk.
  • Interfaces with external legal resources, as needed.
  • Manages and supervises staff.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • 7 – 10 years of relevant legal experience, including experience as in-house counsel.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment is critical, as is ability to “roll up sleeves” and work in a hands-on manner.
  • Experience directly managing and supervising staff.
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry is required.
  • Experience with Apttus or other Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) Systems is required.
  • Computer proficiency including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Education:

  • JD degree and active member of Washington State Bar Association or eligible to promptly register as in house counsel.
