Summary

Seattle Genetics is seeking a highly motivated individual to continue to build, implement, and manage a leading and market competitive benefits program aligned with the Company’s talent strategy of recruiting, retaining, and engaging top talent to create a multi-product, global oncology company. They will have stewardship of our benefits programs, such as health and welfare, retirement, time off, mobility, and work/life programs, in the US & Canada. This is a high level individual contributor role with the opportunity to potentially build a team in the future as the role and company grow.

Responsibilities:

  • Partners with the head of Total Rewards in setting the strategy of Seattle Genetics’ benefits programs and then independently leads all activities related to the delivery of benefit programs for the US & Canadian organizations in line with that strategy including health, retirement, life, disability, time off, work/life and other programs.
  • Ensures effectiveness of current benefits programs and recommends proposed designs that are in alignment with the organization’s business strategy.
  • Leads the effort to communicate the Company’s benefits programs to employees and families and ensure programs are optimized.
  • Ensures benefits programs comply with all regulatory requirements for plan design, communications, filings, etc.
  • Oversees and continually assesses services of outsourced benefits administration activities from consultants, brokers, third party administrators and other providers. Responsible for the negotiation of annual contracts and renewals activities.
  • Leads all policy design activities for the organization’s global mobility program for expatriates, domestic and international transfers.
  • Works closely with Finance and other areas of the organization to determine the cost and enterprise impact of program changes.
  • Prepares and manages the annual benefits budget.
  • Represents the organization effectively to clients and external groups.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years related experience managing benefits programs.
  • Has a strong point of view about benefits with key stakeholders – payers, patients, etc.
  • Background of finding creative solutions to complex business needs through program design and administration.
  • Thought leader, mentor, and coach for HR and business leaders on benefit challenges.
  • Proven success at building strong, credible advisory relationships and communities at all levels of the organization.
  • Able to communicate succinctly and powerfully with Senior Management; strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience partnering with external consultancies to build strategies, methodologies, processes, tools, and communication.
  • Excellent program management skills and ability to engage multiple stakeholders from design to implementation.
  • Experience in a pharmaceutical/ biotech preferred.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required, advanced degree and/or professional certifications preferred.
